Mom is gone, grab the checkbook

I'm sure for most of my "readers" I could make the assumption that their mom was the one in charge of the weekly grocery shopping. This is the case in my family. My dad accompanies my mom on grocery shopping trips but my mom is the list keeper, the one who determines what the family needs. My dad wonders off on his own and gets his yogurt, his frozen dinners, his granola bars, and my mom gets the food for the rest of us.
It is always a treat to go grocery shopping with my dad alone because he basically lets us get whatever we want. Not that my mom doesn't let us, we are not deprived by any means, but, as Tuna (my sister) pointed out the other day, "When I go grocery shopping with dad I always get Ben and Jerry's".
This weekend my mom is out of town which means the weekly Friday grocery shopping was left up to my dad. Tuna was quite upset that she had a prior commitment because no one wants to pass up the opportunity to be with dad and the checkbook.
As my dad and I entered the grocery store it became clear that he had a "hidden" agenda for grocery shopping . Not only do WE get to get what we want when my mom is gone, but so does my dad. Needless to say we are up two cookie/cake magazines, key lime pie, pop-tarts, oatmeal cream pies, and one color changing bath loofa.

Lions and Tigers and Bears (don't cry!)

This is a cute story that aired on the Today show. I didn't see the show but my mom did and she showed me this youtube video. I said don't cry in my title because Katy... I/we know you all too well and your emotions aren't always in check. So try not to cry.
PS: read the subtitles on the video it'll explain what is happening.

Memory! All alone in the moonlight.....

Here are the rules:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you!

Let Me Introduce You To Kevin

Let me Introduce You To Kevin

I was "tagged"(I guess you would say) by Jamie. She did a blog introducing me to everyone and now I'm introducing everyone to Kevin, and he should follow suit with another amazing person.

This is Kevin

Kevin in a nutshell... wait wait wait, Kevin doesn't fit in a nutshell. It is hard to describe Kevin. (I call him Vin because everyone else calls him Kev and I felt like being different) I knew Vin way back in the early days of Nauvoo. So long ago, in fact, that I can't quite remember the year but I do remember that I was little. His family moved and then he came back years later.
Once upon a time Vin was trying to burn a dresser in his burn pile and he ended up burning himself instead. oops...
Kevin is an amazing artist. Amazing is actually an understatement because I can't begin to do the things he can do with a pencil or a computer.
Vin is good company. He is kind of quiet sometimes but that shell can be broken. I know this, I've broken it once or twice.
Vin is the best movie critic I've ever known. If I need to know if a movie is good I just go to his website At The Box Office and check it out.
Vin is the best comment writer I've seen around. His comments are always so witty and it is just as fun to read his comments as it is to read the blogs he comments on.
He has a great style of music. Whenever I go to his blog I'm excited to see what song I get to hear this time. Most recently it was U2 Beautiful Day.
I feel like if anyone is going to "get to know" Vin they should know that his guilty pleasure is watching Walker Texas Ranger.
Well there he is, kind of. There is so much more to Vin so you just kind of have to observe him. Check his blog often and you can get a sense of the real Vin.
His Blog: House Of Vin
check it out!

Mud-Flap Lady

So the other day I brought home some flowers from work. Naturally I put them in some water on top of the entertainment center. Soon after I brought them home the flowers started losing petals and wilted quite quickly. Since this is finals week we are doing crazy cleaning. I went to clean up the flowers and I noticed that one of the petals that fell off stuck to the side and looks like one of those mud flap silhouette girls. Am I wrong?

I should sell it on eBay and see how much I get.

If I Only Had A Brain

I can't decide what is worse. No blog or one of these "here are a bunch of pictures from the semester" blogs. Well here is one of those "here are a bunch of pictures from the semester" blogs.

My brain is SHOT! I'm so ready to be done with school and I can't wait to get home!

These are my roomates Lesley, Tiff, Christina, Me, Katie. They are great. And of course James Dean (the love of my next life) is hanging on the wall. I went to a demolition derby on Saturday. It is always fun to see cars smash into each other. It would be a great stress reliever.
In between heats of the derby there was a pig run. A ton of little kids chased after this poor pig and tried to get the ribbon off it's ear to win 50 dollars. My friend Julie and I went to the Idaho Falls Zoo. It was small but who doesn't love seeing animals?
Tiff, Julie, Karoline, and I went to Yellowstone. I love Yellowstone. It is so pretty and amazing! I would love to have been the person to first stumble across it and be like "What the??!"

And of course the 4th of July. I tried to look patriotic in this picture but my eyes look kinda funny.
And there it is. My semester in a nutshell.

Happy Birthday America!

I love the forth of July. I love fireworks and ever since I stepped foot in Idaho people have told me that the Melalucea fireworks are the best firework show west of the Mississippi. My first year out here I left school on July 3rd, missing the fireworks. Last year I was in Utah with my aunt and uncle and saw a pretty sad display of fireworks so I was SO excited this year because I had plans (and VIP seats) to see the Melalucea fireworks! They were AMAZING! I almost cried when they were over because they were so good. Ok, I didn't almost cry but I thought about it.

Here are some pictures I took of the fireworks. They don't look like fireworks in the picture but they are pretty neat pictures I think. If you click on them they look pretty cool.
