In 1969...

In 1969:

Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.

Richard Nixon was inaugurated as the 37th President.

My grandma turned 40 on June 11th.

The first ever Woodstock was held in a field in New York.

The Beatles had their last public performance on the roof of the Apple Records building.

The US was still involved in the Vietnam War.

My dad was just out of high school.

Gas was (on the average) 35 cents per gallon.

The average cost of a new car was $3,270.00

The US instituted the first Draft Lottery since WWII.

The first successful transplant of a human eye took place.

The first ATM machine is installed in the US.

Sesame Street makes it debut.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang came out.

And........

This $5 Bill I got the other day at Little Ceaser's was printed.

the “average life” of a $5 bill in circulation is 16 months before it is replaced due to wear
This bill lasted a lot longer than 16 months.

Project Time

So I'm in a Senior Seminar class (basically a small class of just seniors studying a certain field) which has to do with photography.
We have had to take a lot of photos of which only a few are worth turning in. We are supposed to make them candid too, which is hard because as soon as soon as someone sees a camera they strike a pose. At least I do.
I'm going to post a few of my favorites, which doesn't necessarily mean they are good enough to turn in but I liked them anyway.

This is a snowman some dude was building the other day.
It was one of the best snowmen I've ever seen.

This is my roommate Madi
We were on our way to Utah and she asked me to take a picture of her blowing a bubble. I know it isn't candid but I liked it anyway.

This is my roommate Lydia
Finishing up some cereal.
yummmmm

Lydia again.
I'm not sure why drying your hands is funny.
Maybe because I'm standing there with a camera.

I liked this photo and all my teacher had to say about it way, "Oh, do you drive a jeep?"
This is my roommate Jane.
I like the reflection and the shadow.
I guess I always get people washing their hands.
I had to take photos with long exposure times.
This was hard, but I like it anyway.

This is my roommate Bobbie Jane.
She had surgery, hence the crutch.

My Birthday Snakebite

I know it isn't quite my birthday yet, but yesterday my room mates and I and a few close friends ate the Snakebite restaurant in downtown Idaho Falls.I, along with most of my room mates, had never heard of the restaurant, but it came with high recommendation from two of my room mates and Rodney.
We all wore t-shirts and jeans because that is what I wear everyday, and it was my day.
We ordered our food and sat patiently waiting for our food.
When the food came out I was SO excited.
I promise you, without any exaggeration at all, it was
the best food I've ever eaten in my life! We were all talking and having fun before the food came out. When the food arrived we were all in so much amazement at how good the food was that there was a hush over the group and we ate in almost complete silence.
I was so sad when my food was gone because it was so good I could have eaten another whole meal. I would have been way way way to full to eat another whole meal, but it was that good.

Luckily, because it was my birthday, the waitress brought out this huge piece of chocolate cake.

Everyone sang happy birthday to me, I blew out the candle, took a bite, and passed the cake around.

It was so much fun.
Then we all went home (minus Rodney because he lives in Idaho Falls) and had Cold Stone ice cream cake my mom had ordered me.
It was so good!!
Next time anyone I know comes to Idaho to visit me we are going to the Snakebite!

Yep

I have no idea who the person is who wrote the blog I linked to above, besides the fact that they were on one of my friends friend list. I agree with everything in this blog though and I'm jealous that I didn't blog it first.
So if you are wondering how I've been feeling about the political scene lately there it is.

...That's Why It Didn't Work!

I'm pretty satisfied with my new apartment. It is big enough and my roomates are fun.
I did (until this evening) have one complaint about the apartment however.
The vacuum didn't work. I tried twice to vacuum my room and it didn't suck and would leave little dirt puffs on the floor. It was horrible.
So tonight I put the vacuum on the floor and took it apart to try and see what was wrong with it.
This is what I found:

Yuck!
Good thing my room mate Michelle didn't mind digging it all out.
(FYI it isn't three different shoe boxes, just three shots of the same thing)

One Resultion is Better Than None

My one resultion this year was to have no soda.
I started a little early (december 14th) but I'm happy to report that I've been soda free for a month. That means no diet no carbonation what-so-ever.
Now I know that is nothing compared to my friend Lydia who hasn't had soda for 9 (yes I said 9) years. But I'm working on it.

Geocaching!!

(sorry this is just text and no pics, but my internet connection is shakey and the pictures wouldn't load)
For Christmas I got a Garmin GPS.
I was so excited about it because I could now participate in Geocaching!
What is geocaching you might ask?
Basically it is a worldwide scavenger hunt!
You log onto geocaching.com and look for a cache you want to find (you can search for places around you, or use the maps to search for places you are going).
Then you plug the coordinates for that cache into your GPS and it'll tell you how to get there.
The cache's range in size from a film canister to...huge.
After you've found the cache you log your name in the logbook provided at the cache and then get back online and log online that you've been there.
If you're lucky, when you find the cache there will be a little thing in it called a travel bug
So far I've found four cache's and two travel bugs and I've hidden one cache!
It is really lots of fun and it gets me out of the house!
